Description: This presentation will provide teachers, specialists and administrators with a clear conceptual framework for the notion of "strategic reading" in the content areas — including science. We will also discuss how to link this conceptual framework to instructional activities that can foster strategic reading and literacy achievement. The presentation will be broken into four key sections: Strategic reading & thinking, dialogue and strategic reading, text use and strategic reading, and writing and strategic reading.
