Description:
David Suzuki, founder and chair of the David Suzuki Foundation, is an award-winning scientist, environmentalist, and broadcaster. In his keynote address, "Reconnecting Our Shattered World," Dr. Suzuki will show how science, the media, cities, and economics have fragmented the world while creating the illusion that our enormous technological prowess confers the understanding and knowledge we need to control and manage the planet. Suzuki will define a very different kind of "bottom line," defined not by business or politics but by our biological, social, and spiritual needs. Suzuki has won consistently high acclaim for his books and for his work in broadcasting. His eight part series, "A Planet for the Taking," won an award from the United Nations. His eight-part PBS series, "The Secret of Life," was praised internationally, as was his five-part series, "The Brain," for the Discovery Channel. Suzuki has received numerous awards for his work, including a UNESCO prize for science and a United Nations Environment Program medal. The general session and keynote address are sponsored by Delta Education.
